How Ecosmart Heat Pumps Work
Ecosmart heat pumps pull heat from outdoor air using a fan + evaporator + compressor + tank heat-exchange system, then store it in a 200 L or 300 L cylinder. The controller offers Eco (HP only), Boost (HP + element), Holiday, and Rescue (element-only if the HP side faults).

Cold-Weather Behaviour
Active DefrostThe unit has an active defrost function to handle icing during cold weather operation.
Anti-Freeze FunctionRequires the water heater to remain powered. Damage from freezing isn't covered if the unit is left unpowered.
Note: Always leave your Ecosmart heat pump switched on at the breaker to ensure the anti-freeze protection remains active.
