Cold showers aren’t fun. If your solar hot water has stopped behaving — lukewarm water, booster won’t kick in, or the tank is leaking — our local team at Todd’s Plumbing & Electrical can sort it. We service Arundel and nearby suburbs daily and, in most cases, can get you back up and running the same day.
Leaking or rusted storage tanks
Circulation problems between roof collectors and the tank
Faulty electric or gas boosters on cloudy days
Sensors, valves or controller failures

Clear, upfront pricing and photos of the fault so you know what you’re paying for
Diagnosis — We test collectors, pump/flow, controllers and the booster to pinpoint the fault.
Options & price — You’ll get a straight explanation and a fixed price before we start.
Repair — Most parts are stocked on the truck. We work cleanly and safely on roofs.
Hot water restored — We test, set temps correctly and show you what we’ve done.
Back-up plan — If parts need ordering, we can install a temporary hot water unit so the household keeps moving.
If you call early, we can usually get to Arundel the same day. If a special part is needed, we’ll explain the timeframe and, if you like, set up a temporary hot water unit so you’re not without hot water.
Most major brands: Rheem, Rinnai, Solahart, Envirosun, Stiebel Eltron, Chromagen and others. We carry common parts on the truck and can source harder-to-find components for older models.
Typical culprits are a failed booster element, a circulation pump not moving water through the roof collectors, or a sticking thermostat/valve. We test each item before replacing anything.
It’s usually a control issue (timer/thermostat), a failed element, or wiring to the booster. We’ll test power at the unit and confirm the controller settings so the booster steps in when it should.
Not always. It could be a pressure relief valve or pipework leak. If the cylinder itself is rusted through, replacement is the safer option. We’ll tell you plainly which it is and why.
If the system is in generally good condition and the fault is a single part, a repair makes sense. If the tank is corroded, efficiency has dropped, or you’ve had repeated breakdowns, a replacement can be cheaper long-term. We’ll price both so you can choose confidently.
Absolutely. We’ll size the right solar, heat pump, or electric/gas option for your household, supply and install it, and dispose of the old unit.
If there’s an active leak, turn off water at the isolation valve near the tank. If the booster is tripping power, switch off the HWS circuit at the board. A quick photo of the tank label (brand/model) also helps.
Yes. All work is covered by our workmanship guarantee, and any parts or new systems carry the manufacturer’s warranty. We’ll note both on your invoice.
Yes — licensed plumbers and electricians (QBCC 1126780 / Electrical Licence 71053) with full insurance. Safety on roofs and around electrics is non-negotiable for us.
We recommend a check each year (or before winter): inspect collectors, test pump flow, check valves, anodes and controller settings. Small adjustments here prevent big bills later.
