Morning showers shouldn’t be a guessing game. If your solar hot water is drifting to lukewarm, the booster won’t wake up, or a damp ring has appeared under the tank, Todd’s Plumbing & Electrical can help. We’re in Ashmore and surrounds most weeks — from Cotlew Street and Currumburra Road to Southport–Nerang Road — and we often get hot water back the same day.
Same-day solar hot water repairs in Ashmore by our solar accredited plumbers and electricians.
We diagnose fast, price up-front, repair properly — and keep you going with a temporary hot water unit if a specialty part’s on order.
Licences: QBCC 1126780 • Electrical Licence 71053.
Heat not moving — collectors are hot but storage isn’t: airlocks, tired circulation pumps, kinked or blocked return lines.
Sleepy boosters — elements/relays don’t engage after a grey run of days; timers drift an hour or two.
Sensors that lie — roof probes wander 10–20 °C off, so controllers “think” the tank is fine.
Valve weeps — tempering or relief valves leave rust trails on slabs (looks like a dead tank but often isn’t).
Collector headaches — cracked glazing, perished insulation, or shaded panels near established gums off Ashmore Road.
One visit, two trades. Plumber + electrician together = fewer delays.
Clear choices. We show the fault and fix-price it before we start.
Stocked trucks. Pumps, valves, elements, sensors, controllers, fittings on board.
Plan B. Need a specialty part? We’ll fit a temporary hot water unit.
Photo notes. Helpful for strata, landlords and insurance.
Pumps • non-return & tempering valves • controllers & roof sensors • electric/gas boosters & elements • leaking pipework & relief valves • collector/flow faults • thermostats & wiring
Snap a photo of the tank label (brand/model/size).
Note any error lights/codes on the controller.
Active leak? Close the isolation valve by the tank.
Power tripping? Turn off the HWS circuit at your board.
Verify — collector temps, flow rate, controller logic, booster draw.
Decide — repair vs replace with simple pros/cons and exact pricing.
Do — safe roof access, tidy finishes, no mystery charges.
Prove — temps set correctly; photos + simple after-care notes.
Fallback — temporary unit while parts arrive (if needed).
If the cylinder is sound and one component failed, repairing is usually the best value. If the tank body is corroded or faults keep returning, we’ll price a sensible solar or heat-pump replacement and handle supply, installation and disposal with manufacturer warranties plus our workmanship guarantee.

Yes. We work on both styles every week — pumps, sensors, controllers, valves and boosters.
A constant hum is common, but rattling or cycling on/off points to air in the line or a tired pump. We’ll test flow and amperage before recommending a fix.
Not always. A weeping relief valve can mimic a failed cylinder. If the tank body is perforated, replacement is safer — we’ll show you clear evidence either way.
Often yes — morning calls help. If a specialty part is needed, we can install a temporary unit so you’re never without hot water.
We stock common components and source older parts quickly; if something’s obsolete, we’ll present compatible options or a sensible upgrade.
