Cold showers and misty bathroom mirrors don’t mix. If your solar hot water has drifted to lukewarm, the booster won’t wake up, or there’s a damp ring under the tank, Todd’s Plumbing & Electrical can help. We’re in Mudgeeraba and the hinterland every week—from Mudgeeraba Village and Railway Street to Somerset Drive, Tallai, Bonogin and Worongary—and we often get hot water back the same day.
Repair when the cylinder is sound. Pumps, valves, roof sensors, controllers and boosters are everyday fixes.
Replace when the tank body is corroded or failures keep repeating. We’ll size a sensible solar or heat-pump upgrade and handle supply, installation and disposal.
Licences: QBCC 1126780 • Electrical Licence 71053.
Heat that doesn’t travel — collectors cook on the roof but the tank stays cool (airlocks, tired circulation pumps, blocked return lines).
Boosters half-asleep — elements/relays don’t engage after a grey run of days or timers are mis-set.
Drifty roof sensors — a probe reads wrong by 10–20 °C so the controller “thinks” storage is hot.
Valve weeps — tempering/relief valves leave rust streaks on slabs; looks like a dead tank but often isn’t.
Collector headaches — cracked glazing, perished insulation, shaded arrays under jacarandas along Springbrook Road.
One crew for water + power. Plumber and electrician together = fewer visits.
Straight talk. We show the fault and quote it before we start.
Stocked trucks. Pumps, valves, elements, sensors, controllers and fittings on board.
Plan B. Specialty part needed? We can fit a temporary hot water unit.
Photo notes. Handy for strata, landlords and insurance.
Pumps • non-return & tempering valves • controllers & roof sensors • electric/gas boosters & elements • leaking pipework & relief valves • collector/flow faults • thermostats & wiring
Verify the symptoms — collector temps, flow rate, controller logic, booster draw.
Your choices — repair vs replace with simple pros/cons (and prices) you can weigh.
Do the work — safe roof access on steep pitches; tidy finishes.
Prove it — temps set correctly, photos, and easy after-care notes.
No-hot-water fallback — temporary unit while specialty parts arrive (if needed).
Rheem • Rinnai • Solahart • Envirosun • Stiebel Eltron • Chromagen (and others). Older/discontinued? We’ll chase compatible parts or suggest a sensible upgrade.
Snap a photo of the tank label (brand/model/size).
Note any error lights/codes on the controller.
Active leak? Close the isolation valve next to the tank.
Power tripping? Switch off the HWS circuit at your board.
Often yes—early calls help. If a specialty part is needed, we can fit a temporary unit so you’re not without hot water.
Typically the booster didn’t engage, the pump isn’t moving heat from the roof, or a sensor is lying to the controller. We test all three before replacing anything.
Not always. A weeping relief valve can mimic a failed tank. If the cylinder is perforated, replacement is safer—we’ll show you clear evidence either way.
Yes. We bring roof access gear for steep pitches, tie-offs and mats, and keep internal stairwells/lobbies clean if access is through the home.
Absolutely. We size solar or heat-pump to your usage, roof and budget, install it, and remove the old unit.
