Lukewarm showers, tripping boosters, mystery drips around the tank — none of it’s welcome. Todd’s Plumbing & Electrical repairs solar hot water systems across Burleigh Waters every week, from Christine Ave to the canals near Swan Lake and the estates off Bermuda St. Same-day help is often possible.
Repair when the cylinder’s sound: pumps, valves, sensors, controllers and boosters are routine.
Replace when the tank body’s corroded or failures keep repeating; we’ll size a smart solar or heat-pump option and handle supply, install and disposal.
Licensed & insured: QBCC 1126780 • Electrical Licence 71053.
Heat not moving — collectors run hot but the tank doesn’t: airlocks, tired circulation pumps or blocked returns.
Dozy boosters — elements/relays don’t engage after cloudy runs or timers are out of whack.
Sensors that lie — roof probes drift, controllers think storage is warm when it’s not.
Valve weeps — tempering/relief valves stain the slab; looks like a dead tank but often isn’t.
Collector headaches — perished insulation, cracked glazing, shaded sections near established palms.
Solar Accredited — plumber and electricians.
Plain-English options — we show the fault and quote before work starts.
Stocked truck — pumps, valves, elements, sensors, controllers and fittings on board.
Plan B — specialty part needed? We can fit a temporary hot water unit.
Photo report — handy for strata, landlords and insurance claims.
Pumps • non-return & tempering valves • controllers & roof sensors • electric/gas boosters & elements • leaking pipework & relief valves • collector/flow faults • thermostats & wiring

Photo of the tank label (brand/model/size).
Note any error lights/codes on the controller.
Active leak? Close the isolation valve near the tank.
Power tripping? Turn off the HWS circuit at your board.
Often yes — morning calls help. If a specialty part is needed, we can fit a temporary unit so you’re never without hot water.
Either the booster didn’t engage, the pump isn’t moving heat from the roof, or the sensor is feeding the controller bad data. We test all three before replacing anything.
Not always. A weeping relief valve can mimic a failed cylinder. If the tank is perforated, replacement’s safer — we’ll show you proof either way.
Yes. We book access if needed, protect surfaces, and provide photo notes for managers/insurers.
Absolutely. We’ll size solar or heat-pump to your usage and roof, install it, and remove the old unit.
